Diabetes is a group of diseases caused by high blood glucose levels that come from deficiencies in the bodys ability to produce and use insulin. There are a few main causes of diabetes. There’s two types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. In Type 1 diabetes the diagnosis is often made in children and young adults, and was formerly known as juvenile diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is where your body does not produce insulin at all. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes your body does not use insulin appropriately, which is called insulin resistance. Data from the 2011 Diabetes Fact Sheet reports that among the 25.8 million children and adults in the United States, 8.3% of the population have diabetes. That is 18.8†¦show more content†¦Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes your body does not use insulin appropriately, which is called insulin resistance. Before being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes your pancreas f irst makes an excess amount of insulin to make up for the improper use of insulin in your body. After it does that for quite some time, your pancreas will then give up and won’t be able to keep up with the levels in your body and thus won’t be able to maintain proper levels of the blood glucose in your body. When the body doesn’t use the glucose it makes as energy then the glucose stays inside of your blood, which can then cause more serious complications. There are a few main causes of diabetes. The first cause is the body’s inadequate production of insulin. The second cause, which is quite rare, is the production of insulin that is malfunctioning to the body. The third cause is the cells inability to sufficiently use the insulin for the body. All of these three causes results in being diagnosed with diabetes and hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia is when there is an excess amount of glucose in the bloodstream which ultimately causes diabetes. Hyperglycemia af fects the fat tissues and muscle cells which causes insulin resistance in a person’s body.
